Brief Description:  Glareshield installation

I spent the last few days pulling off the protective plastic from the instrument panel and glareshield. I'm not sure what had happened to it but it was nearly impossible to remove, it seemed to tear really easily hence I had to remove small bits at a time, very frustrating, it took more than 2 hours to get it all off.
Anyway, it’s done now, on to the next problem, yes, another problem.

It seems my old plans have let me down, some drawings in my plans are really, the previous owners was one of the first Sonex plan owners and when he first bought them not all drawings were finished yet he received them as Sonex brought them out. Therefore some of the drawings in my plan set are older than others.

Well, this has caused me some grief now, apparently one of the newer drawings for the glareshield installation does not match the older fuselage side-panel drawings.
The pictures show the problem, as you can see on the older drawings the top vertical angle ends at the upper longeron but on the newer drawings it looks like it was supposed to overlap. This means that the corner plates cannot be installed correctly, 2 of the rivet holes have nothing behind them.

I did not see any drawing revision in the Sonex revision list and it is clear I’m not reading the plans incorrectly, there is just a mismatch between the older and new plans (there is a revision on the angle F14-08, “Extend side view to match front view”, but that does not make sense on my drawings as side and front view match as you can see in the picture).

Now, what to do? I could drill out all the rivets, pull it all apart and remake the vertical angles but I really don’t want to do that, there is a much easier solution, just re-design those corner plates so they extend downwards a bit further and overlap completely with the vertical angles.
That is what I’ve done, I’ve drawn them but still need to make them, that will be a job for the coming days.
