Brief Description: Made & installed firewall stiffener doubler
The next thing on my list was to review every page of the fuselage plans to look for parts or rivets I have missed. After 45 minutes, I ran into the first part I had forgotten to install in the first pass. It was not shown in the photo assembly guide, so I had not installed the firewall stiffener doubler that was made by Tom Henderson. I put the part in place, only to realize that it was mismade. At that point I went into fabrication mode. Unfortunately I misread the plans the first time and spent two hours making the part on the right in the first picture. The flange at the top was too short because I misplaced the upper radius hole. The good news is that I was getting faster, so the real part was done in just over one hour. From that point it was all about locating it properly, drilling it into position, marking and drilling the 5/8" hole for the nose gear pin (6-G-2-2), and completing the assembly. Check one more item off the list.
