Brief Description:  Proposed solution to wing skin mess-up

It is remarkable what a good night's sleep -- and a call to Zenith -- will do for your seemingly unfixable problems. Since my left wing has holes drilled in the ribs and rear channel, I was prepared to disassemble the wing, drill out the rivets holding the ribs, remake the ribs, re-install the ribs, then remake and reinstall the skins. Roger at ZAC was a lifesaver. He suggested that I use my existing skins as templates for drilling each rivet line going into the ribs. Because my rivet lines are angled (when they should be perpendicular to the main spar), I won't be laying the whole skin on top of my new skin and marking/drilling. Instead, I will establish the correct location of the new rib rivet lines and overlaying each drill line separately. Don't worry if this doesn't make sense. I'll take pictures when I'm doing it. If this plan works, and it should, I'm only out for my new skin material and time to redrill. It could be worse (actually a lot worse), as described in my last entry. Believe or not this sounds good to me. That's how scratch building will warp your mind!
