Brief Description:  Left Wing Leading Edge and Aileron Brackets

I'm tying up a few loose ends in preparation for final riveting the leading edge and top main skins on the left wing.

I started out by finishing installation of the stall warning switch, including final riveting of the bracket, and mounting and adjusting the switch. The parts don't match the instructions exactly, so there was some trial and error. The switch mounting plate is a different shape, allowing only one rivet in the lower nutplate (photo 1). The nutplate is very lightly loaded, so I just went with it.

I then clecoed the leading edge inboard rib and joint plate with sealant in an attempt to move the leading edge skin out to the contour of the tank skin. A trial fit of the leading edge and tank shows the effort not entirely successful. However, there doesn't seem to be as much bulging between tank screws, so there's still hope I won't have to double up on the screws.

While I had the tank in place, I installed the tank test kit, and tied and sealed a baloon to a short tube connected to the vent fitting. The tank is now ready to test after the sealant on the balloon cures.

I then final drilled all of the aileron bracket parts, then finished cleaning and priming the faying surfaces. I final riveted the left brackets, including countersinking for two flush rivets on each one. I would have final riveted the right brackets, but the kit was short two bearings.
