Brief Description: Rivet and install the center rail
Based on the instructions – here is what I did :
Rivet the slide cap and spacer together to make the center rail.
The final position of the center rail on the fuselage is determined by pulling a thread from the center of bulkhead F-807 to the center of bulkhead F-810A. The pre-punched fastener holes in the fuselage skin are used to establish the centerline. Mark center on the fuselage with a sharpie and place the center rail on the fuselage. Lightly tape it in position and drill the screw holes for F-825.
Attach the slide cap/spacer assembly to the fuselage using the hardware shown on DWG 44, Detail A.
I attached the center rail to the fuselage with the hardware in order to drill the last hole in the front of the center slide that drops down into the F-882 Canopy Rail Receptacle – which has to be drilled from underneath so that the angle is drilled properly. (At least that is my opinion). I had Teresa help me install the hardware as it is a inside/outside job – and then I drilled the hole from the inside. I was tired from working in a 90+ degree garage so I will “undo” the hardware installation so that I can countersink the front hole of the center rail. Then I can install it for good.
