Brief Description: Pre-purchase inspection

Inspection of components for QB kit. Visited hanger in Mesa (FFZ) and did a prelim review of the major components. This is an RV-6A Quick Build purchased originally in Dec '97 and picked up by the first owner at Van's factory.
Unlike many of the QB kits that I have seen of the later models (-7 and newer, i.e., all match-drilled kits), this one included factory completed components; HS, VS, elevators (minus trim tab), flaps (minus hinges/brackets), and ailerons (minus hinges/brackets).
[I've concluded that when Van's started the match-drilled kits, they discontinued the factory assembly of the HS, VS, elevators, ailerons, and flaps to compensate for the 51% since these were easier for the builder to construct with pre-drill holes.]
General condition of these components was excellent after 9 yrs in a desert climate hanger. The elevators, flaps, and ailerons were still wrapped in the factory paper and cardboard wraps. There was no rudder or rudder making components.
The HS is not as 'shiny' but in excellent condition, no dents, scratches or corrosion.
