Brief Description: F-675 aft top skin, F-609 bulkhead fitting
Lots of tight fitting and prep work to get ready to complete the aft top skin, F-675. The tailcone is very tight for a 6'3" builder and I struggled with working from the 'outside' to fit, clamp, backdrill and adjust the F-609 in area between the aft deck and the aft top skin.
Drilled the rivet holes for the aft deck to F-609 bulkhead and clecoed that in place. Then drilled the flanges of the F-609 bulkhead to ensure the rivet spacing and fluting issues. Finally, had to adjust, clamp and backdrill (using a mirror) through the flange rivet holes in the F-609. Slow, and awkward to say the least.
Used a trick that I found on another RV builder's website (sorry - don't remember the URL) and used a copper pipe to roll the protective plastic from the skin (after 10 yrs in a hanger, it was surprisingly effective).
Primed the inside of the aft top skin with SW GBP988, also well as other parts (F-609). Clecoed it all in place and checked it over.
