Brief Description:  Rudder, fair lead fairing

Worked on fabricating the fairings for the rudder cable fair leads, where they exit the fuselage aft of F-610 bulkhead.

Conclusion - Get on George Orndorff's website and order a couple of prebend units.

This little task is more complex than it appears at first. It becomes a complex curve problem, trying to make a flat piece of metal fold without distorting the flat portion at one end. NO WAY. This requires a press to do it right but I achieved a result that will pass muster for this airplane. It won't be winning the Grand Champion of Metal Working at Oshkosh though.

The result is functional and secures the fair lead (plastic sleeve) through which the rubber cable passes on it's way to the rudder attach, about a foot away.

It covers the penetration in the fuselage skin, reinforces the attach screw holding the fair lead clamp inside the skin, and reinforces the fuselage skin. It's not a structural member. And, it will probably never be seen, hiding under the HS.
