Brief Description:  Refab EF-607R&L

Photo #1 shows the completed EF-600 asbly with new skins. Photo #2 shows the Lt side with prelim holes to relieve the bolt head and rivet heads of the EF-605 plate.

Decided to refabricate both R&L EF-607's, side covers for the EF-600 electric flap assembly. Actually, it was based on two factors, one by choice and one by workmanship. I was so unhappy with the fit & finish of the first covers that I decided to call them 'practice' parts and scrapped them. In addition, the extremely flimsy .016 alum sheet was not making it any easier to fir or give me much confidence in their strength. Because I had a good sized scrap of .025, it seems like a good idea to use it. The weight difference is minor but strength is noticeable.

It was easier to refab then it was to make the first ones. It was obvious where the error in fit was and not make the same mistake twice.

The big problem was the need to bend the flange on the bottom end of the EF-607's - looked at "The List" on Van's ($13.20/ea) and decided to check out Harbor Freight "brake & benders" which online looked like a $150 unit was about right. Okay, making a couple of EF-607's wouldn't make the pay-back but hey, there'd be other needs, right?

Opted for a very cheap 36" bench unit which needs c-clamps to 'brake' it down. And, the lifting handling have no retainers. But it will do the job. $50 with c-clamps.
