Decided to do a little work on the F-620 Lt armrest - drill and dimple. Used the rivet fan to lay out the rivet spacing (and matched to the Rt F-620). Did NOT refer to Dwg #36 which defines the rivet specs. (Should be AN 426 AN 3-3.5 at 1 1/4" spacing.)
Having ignored that Drawing specification, I proceeded to drill, debur, and dimple using the drill bit in the drill at the time. OOPS! Didn't double check the drill size, which was a #30 and then dimpled to match. As a result, the rivet called-out is not a match for the hole, and the F-620 has now become a 'practice" component.
The practice and lesson learned is good. (I will now re-fab a Lt F-620 using a friend's press brake to get a straight bend and a better result).
I'll also go ahead and use a piece of scrap .025 to practice back-drilling, dimpling, and riveting the armrest (albeit, using oversize rivets). Good practice.
