Brief Description:  Rear Window - backing strips

Created butcherpaper patterns of the segments needed and cut them from scrap 2024 AL Sheet. Trimmed to fit contour of the aft fuselage skin and then clamped to inside of rear window (plexi) to ensure contour matched edges there and then match-drilled (#30) to the holes in the plexiglas. (Rivets will be used 'per plans')

On the juncture of the rollbar brace aft end there is a complex, and tight fitting area which will not allow window rivets due to lack of space between plexiglas and brace. In addition, there is a precise alignment of skin with several layers of spacers and brace. Plans call for exceptionally long rivets in these layers. Special screw-clecoes are required to pull these layers tight. Also, the sequence of assembly/riveting is absolute.

A continuous backing strip is used to cross this area and tie the window edges while avoiding interference with the other structure members.

Finally, disassembled the entire rear window and fuselage skin for finally preparations, paint, and sequential final assembly.
