Brief Description:  Part 1 of 3 - Details of F-632 components

Another one of those unresolved tasks that has become the critical path. It's the junction of parts; the F-606 bulkhead flange, F-674 top skin, and F-632 assembly of rollbar braces. This is one of those 'clear as mud' details on the RV-6A plans. Even the Tech Support answer adds to that 'clarity'. Of course, fitting the plexi in the rear window is related. I'll focus on this issue.

Dwg 39 - The View D-D is 'botom up' and really needs a View E-E from the side to clearly illustrate the layers of the juncture of components. It appears in this drawing the F-632B angle is to be riveted on top of the F-632A channel, and the aft side of the angle is riveted to the F-606 bulkhead web.

Dwg 32 & 36 - The rivet pattern and call-outs for rivet specs is shown but no specific detail is shown for the area on this juncture. In fact, it appears from this drawing that the F-674 skin is simply riveted to the F-606 bulkhead flange. The triangular gusset F-688 on top of the flange is sandwiched between the flange & skin, total 3-layers.

A note on drawing 39, View D-D says that a .032 shim is to be fabricated to go between the F-632B angle and the F-606 bulkhead, (which is assumed to be ON TOP of the angle). This is picture #2.
