Brief Description:  Etch primed canopy frame

Today was a learning experience; I bought a HVLP spray gun a while ago and today was the day to practice. The first challenge was remembering how much to thin the paint, got it right on the third attempt, the instructions said 30% and it was more like 60% given how hot it was today. The second challenge was working out what pressure to set the gun to, it has a limit gauge with a green arc between 40 to 60 psi, but as I started spraying, the primer was turning to string, kept adjusting the various knobs to no avail, and then I noticed the engraved label on the nozzle of the gun, max 10 psi, guess what, that works...anyway I figure that there are lots of other parts that need priming, so by the time I get to the actual plane I'll have it sussed. Apart from all that I managed to get a reasonable finish, not that it’s going to be seen, the flashing covers the rails and the hoops are going to be gray. That’s tomorrow’s challenge, the paint I am using is a single pack epoxy boat paint called Bright Side, it’s meant to be very tough, flexible and abrasion resistant. Also your meant to be able to get an excellent finish using a brush, so the gun should work a treat once I've worked it out.
