Brief Description: Cut the oil door opening and fit the door
This is a compilation over a couple of days. After locating the oil filler tube with the laser dot we marked the outline of the oil door. I cut it out with a dremel cutoff wheel. Then sanded it for the proper fit of the door. We bent the metal oil door to follow the complex curve of the cowl. Next, I cut a bit off the oil door hinge and used the scotchbright wheel to smooth the edges. I dimpled the door backing plate for the Dzus spring and riveted it in place. After fitting the oil door to the backing plate we centered it inside the cowl at the door opening. We drilled the holes for the backing plate and clecoed it in place. We took the door off the hinge and used the vise and a dowel to help refine the curve of the door. We are quite pleased with the oil door fit.
