Welcome to my OneX #129 experimental aircraft Web site.
This will be my second kit aircraft build, my first was a Van's RV9-A which I completed in 2008 after 6 years and 2,400 hours of effort. I am currently flying the RV9-A and very happy with it, it has been practically trouble free after almost 200 tach hours.
Since recently retiring from the computer industry I decided to start a new aircraft project. I wanted to build a smaller, simpler and less expensive airplane. Because most of my flying is done solo, I thought a single seat aircraft would be more practical for my typical flight around the patch and if I wanted to take a passenger up or go X-country, I could still use the RV9. Also, I wanted an airplane that could be registered as light sport since I'm not getting any younger and someday I may have problems passing a 3rd class medical.
I researched quite a few kit airplanes before deciding on the Sonex OneX powered by the AeroVee engine. The OneX best fits my mission and after visiting the Sonex facility in Oshkosh, I'm convinced they have a well designed, safe, quality product line. I especially like the fact they offer a complete package including the AeroVee engine kit. The AeroVee engine appears to be a great alternative to a very expensive Lycoming, Rotax or Jabiru engine and I'm looking forward to actually building or assembling the engine.
