Brief Description:  Rivet Left Aileron TE; Install Hardware

21-7:
Step 5: Removed clecos from L-aileron TE and cleaned holes as necessary to remove Proseal from upper and lower TE. Inserted AN3-3.5 rivets per the plans and used rivet tape to hold in place, flipped the aileron over and weighted it down to hold edge against angle-iron riveting surface. I marked rivet positions 0 through 9 and used a predetermined order of 0-5-3-7-1-4-8-2-9-6 while riveting, begining from the middle 0 position. Riveted perpendicular to the angle-iron initially inline with the rivet for the first three passes. Final pass was perpendicular with the top surface until shop head was flush with surface. Got a little sloppy and dented the lower TE in a couple of spots that will just have to be filled when prepping for paint. Finally got a better feel for location and angle and finished up ok. Used about 25psi at the regulator for riveting. Results were satisfactory although I did notice that top and bottom surfaces next to the rivet were very slightly higher than in between where I had clamps positioned. The idea was to make sure I did not have buldging between rivets because of Proseal. And now it looks like I over did it some. Not bad but noticeable when you get a light reflection just right to see it. Ultimately, the TE was dead straight.
