Brief Description:  Rudder Cable Fairing & Tail Cone Prime

Rudder Cable Fairing: Refitted Fairings closer to the F-1011 Bulkhead to allow sufficient room and alignment with Rudder Cable. To do so, I had to trim approximately 3/16 inch from the forward edge of the Fairing to allow for clearance with the F-1011 Bulkhead. I used a 23/64 inch bit that just fit in the existing ellipse exit hole and used it to align and position the Faring so there was sufficient depth once the Faring was installed. I aligned the aft edge of the Faring forward of the most aft edge of the elliptical hole by approximately 5/64 inch and opened up the hole no further than the ellipse aft edge.

Step 3: Primed all Tail Cone Parts using PPG (PRC Desoto) Super Koropon fluid resistant interior primer, Base 515K011 (green) and Activator 910-012. I used my old Empenage crate to use as a temporary paint booth in the garage. Even in Florida, temperature has not been much above 45 deg F for a couple of weeks so I constructed a filtering system using inexpensive 20 in square fans and cracked the garage door about an inch for exhaust ventilation. I have central heating in the garage since it is insulated and I maintained positive pressure in the garage by not venting back in the house (which with all the fumes would have been disasterous). It worked pretty well. I have some loose overspray on the floor in front of the paint booth and fumes exhausted ok as long as no one opened the door from the house to the garage (whcih happened and loaded the house up with paint smell). I used a 3M Organic Vapor/P95 Dual Cartridge Respirator (p/n 07193) which worked great!
