Enrolled in the 18 May 2009 RV Tail Kit Program at Alexander Technical Center, 129 Sky Harbor Way, Griffin, GA 30224 770-467-9490.
In preparation to build, I've read most of the "primer wars" and now am researching and forming my own opinion.
After talking with Jacob and a little research, I found Alexander uses a PPG Super Koropon fluid resistant interior primer, Base 515K011 (green) and Activator 910-012. This looks like a good choice after reviewing the technical and application guide data. This primer is designed to effectively protect the aluminum substrate with or without topcoats. Super Koropon primer is reported to have superior film properties such as corrosion resistance, adhesion to all surfaces, Skydrol resistance, and topcoat compatibility. Although chromate conversion treatment such as Alodine 1200 is recommended, in certain cases this primer has been applied to water break-free surfaces without the use of Alodine pretreatment. Alexander Technical Center recommended preparing the metal without Alodine pretreatment for internal structure priming using Super Koropon.
