Brief Description: Rivet R Aileron Nose and Main Ribs; Pop rivet C-we
I bought this nifty pneumatic pop rivet puller about a year ago, didn't use it but tried some months ago. Didn't work. Tried again two days ago and had no luck so tore it down to find poor assy technique by vendor nicked steel shim of top piston which gouged the aluminum cylinder that pulls the rivet. It had also ruined the o-ring on the small cylinder. Aluminum oxide sand paper and fine polishing cloth with oil did the trick to refurbish the cylinder. Used buffing wheel to debur steel cyl guides and cleaned all. Parts store for similar o-ring, thicker and bigger which was fine. Worked well. Used synthetic compressor oil to replace original hydraulic oil in puller.
21-7: Step 1: R aileron only per the instructions. Step 2; R aileron blind rivets in counterbalance installed per the instructions and as with the left. I Pneumatic pop-rivet puller worked like a champ. Step 3: Riveted L aileron end ribs - nose and main - per the instructions using hand squeezer. Step 4: Fiinished squeezing the rest of the rib rivets per the instructions and quit for the night.
