Brief Description:  Starting to trim cabin cover

Brad came by today to assist me with cutting the fuselage. I used the mulit-function saw from Harborr Frieght (their knock off of the Fein MultiMaster). It worked pretty good except the fiberglass was pretty hard on the blades. I went through four or five. At least they are only $5.99 as oppose to $49 from Fein or Bosch.

I still have many iterations left to complete. As other builder's have noticed, the sribe lines are all over the place. The door opening is 37" and the scribe lines for the door was 37 3/8". So I have quite a bit more trimming, adjusting, and fitting to complete.

43-2, Steps 1 & 2

Make seven center marks on the F-1015C Mid Cabin Decks centered between the rivets. These marks are used later to locate the holes for the screws which secure the bottom of the C-1001 Cabin Cover door opening to the fuselage.

Extend the center marks to the outboard edge of the F-1015C Mid Cabin Deck, then transfer the marks to the F-1069 Fwd Side Skins and F-1070 Mid Side Skins.

43-2 Completed per plans

43-3, Steps 1 & 2

The C-1001 Cabin Cover needs to be trimmed in order to fit on the fuselage.

Scribe lines around the perimeter, the window openings, and door openings indicate the extent to which the cabin cover needs to be trimmed. Since these scribe lines are faint, trace over them with a fine point pen to improve their visibility. The information in the blow-ups can be used to find the scribe lines or draw new ones if necessary.

The windscreen flange, the flange around the window opening, the mid side skin flange, and the tailcone forward top skin flange are all 3/4" wide.

The scribe line on the lip around the door opening transitions from the lip to the vertical web along bottom portion of the door opening.

Trim and sand to the scribe lines the tailcone forward top skin flange, the mid side skin flange, and the flange around the window opening.
