Today was my first attempt at etching with Alumiprep 33 and then following up with Alodine.
I purchased 5lbs of Dorado Kote 1 from Eldorado Solutions. For about $50 you can get a 5lb can of dry chemicals to mix with water. It looks like I'll have plenty left over when I'm done.
You can tell I let a few parts soak a little too long. The lighter color parts were brushed, since I don't have a dip tank long enough at the moment. It is hard to get a consistent coat using just a foam brush. However, I'm planning on using the long crate when it gets time to do the rudder. I just didn't feel like messing with it today.
I was able to keep the garage at 66 degress even though it's been snowing all day today.
Tomorrow will be my first attempt at priming. The directions state to prime between 8 - 48 hours after applying the alodine.
