Brief Description:  Doors and Cowl

Janice continued sanding the door interiors. She finished this round today and they are ready for inspection. I'm being told that there may be a few spots to touch up with body icing.

I spent the day working on the cowl. The day started with cleaning up the oil door from my mistake yesterday. I wrote top and bottom on the oil door to prevent the same thing from happening again. I applied the foam Van's supplied along with some micro to the bottom of the door. The pattern is a little different than plans, due to my use of a different latch. I'm using camlocks.

I sanded the micro off the area around the oil door and some of the rivet lines that I did yesterday. The oil door still needs some work. I spent a good deal of time getting the cowl to fit again. Many months ago, I applied some fiberglass to the back side of the spinner area for reinforcement. Unfortunately, it caused some fit issues.

I then applied two layers of fiberglass on the outward corners of the cowl and filled the gap in with micro. This essentially epoxied the two halves together. When the epoxy dries, I'll use a hack saw to split. This allows me to correct several issues with the orignal cut and a slight alignment issue.
