Brief Description:  Drain oil, install exhaust pipes, and EGT sensors

FF6-2, Step 3

Install the Stack Assemblies and EA GASKET 77611 Exhaust Pipe Gaskets to the engine using the hardware shown in the detail view in Figure 1. Use anti-seize on the exhaust port studs. Torque the exhaust nuts to 100-140 inch-pounds.

AFS EGT Installation

Locate the EGT probes, P/N 40200, not less than 1 1/2” or more than 3” below the exhaust stack attachment flange. 2” to 3” is optimum, and try to mount all probes equal distance from the exhaust flanges. On curved stacks, assume probe tip is on stack centerline for determining distance to exhaust flange. Carefully center punch the probe hole locations such that the portions of the probes external to the exhaust pipes will not interfere with any parts of the engine or cowling. Drill holes with a #30 drill. Carefully insert probe and clamp snugly with screwdriver.

Before installing above, I drained the preservative oil from the engine. Beside the drain plug, I removed the bottom spark plugs, and the gaskets off the exhaust ports. I let the engine drain for a couple hours to ensure that I got out as much as the preservative as possible. I cleaned the spark pluges before re-installing them.

I only hand tighten the bolts and plugs. I will torque them later.

I also installed a quick drain valve.
