Brief Description: Joined front to rear fuse & set center spar
Tonight I tackled the task of joining the rear and front fuselage sections. Because the total length is longer than my 12 foot worktable, I clamped extra plywood to each end as extensions. Then Joy and I pulled a chalk link for reference. When we placed the parts on top of the table/extension/line we were able to align everything perfectly. That set the stage for drilling the front edge of the gear channel to the aft edge of the cabin floor. Next came the center spar placement, and I was gratified to see how everything came together in this area as well. After marking the center of the spar, I flipped it over and marked the rivet lines which were 50mm apart. That perfectly matched the rivet lines on the bottom skin. Clamp, drill and voila! Tomorrow should be the day to move this half boat/half airplane off the worktable and onto sawhorses and steel beams to start the leveling and aligning process that leads to an integral framework for the fuselage from tip to tail.
