Brief Description:  Right fuel tank in place

After my problems locating the drain and vent holes on the bottom of the left wing, I received an email from my building buddy, Debo Cox, reminding me that plexiglass makes great template material for something like this. That's what he did, so I gave it a try on this wing. Once again, the builder community comes through, and the holes were nearly perfect the very first time. After locating the fuel tank filler cap on another piece of plexiglass, I used the flycutter to open a 70mm hole. With a little extra deburring on the inboard side, my cap screwed all the way down. This week I'll be talking with the folks at the factory about how to level out my filler caps. The angle of the filler cap is set when the tanks are being welded, and both came out slightly high on the forward side of the wing. I have confidence that they will have a solution, or in the worst case I'll just shim them. This is a red-letter day. I have now completed all the structural work on both wings. From here on out, there are just a few dozen 15 to 60 minute tasks before I get the wings inspected by my EAA Tech Counselor. I'm glad to be at this point wilthin days of Thanksgiving. Hopefully I'll be working on the fuselage by New Year's.
