Brief Description: Made light support channel and cut hole
I fabricated the landing light channel (without lightening holes because of the light I am using). Since my bending brake has been disassembled, I simply placed the bending plate on the edge of my worktable and clamped in over my work. There was no bending arm, so I just bend everything by hand. It worked fine, but I wouldn't want to do many pieces that way. Primed and riveted the channel and riblet together. The time had finally arrived to cut into my beautiful leading edge skin to accommodate my landing light, so I took a 1/4" drill bit to all four corners and snipped and trimmed my way, very carefully, to the final size. I'd say it came out quite well.
Two assembled light support structures
The landing light hole cut with support set in place (looking inboard)
Looking outboard (if you look carefully you can see the acrylic lens temporarily in place)
