Following a great tip from plans builder Randy Bryant, I laid out each spar cap under its respective web edge, clamped it to the work table in several places, and then used the same #40 bit to spot drill the caps. In this way you are assured of perfect alignment and it makes drilling the caps super simple as each hole is then self-centering. This went very smoothly.
