I installed the fuel tank this morning, and realized that doing so was premature. There are several items that need to be mounted to the firewall, and the fuel tank will be in the way. Besides, I don't want to run the risk of drilling holes in the fuel tank.
So, I removed that fuel tank, and decided to build the battery box. It felt good to do sheet metal work again after working on the fuel tank and canopy for so long.
I was able to make the battery box out of the metal left over from the flaps. It's nice to be able to build an entire assembly from what would have been scrap.
As others have done, I modifed the battery box so the side is removable. This will allow the battery to slide out the side, which will make installation and removal much easier.
