I have the engine mount shimmed and bolted in place with 6 of the 8 needed bolts. Only 6 because I was shorted 2 from the store I bought them from. Not a big deal, I can still move forward, I'll just have to add another note to my Sonex to-do list.
Though I don't have pictures showing it, I leveled the fuselage and used a plumb bob to check for squareness and the correct position. This is very easy with the kit,
A few challenges were getting the shims correctly fabricated, removing aluminum from the lower engine mount bracket so the landing gear can pass through, and installing the bottom bolts in the bottom side of the engine mount. There was very little room to install the bolt, and I ended up shortening the bolt, and then wrapping safety wire around the nut to hold it at the end of the bolt. It worked pretty well.
I can hardly believe it's been a month since my last post. Getting ready for AirVenture in Oshkosh really got me sidetracked. But while I was there I was able to trade in my AeroVee engine mount for the Jabiru 3300 engine mount that I just installed.
