Tonight I completed the bend on the replacement left aileron skin. It's been 6-7 weeks since I last bent an aileron skin, and I'd forgotten how close to spar the skin must be bent to get the proper profile on the trailing edge. Photo 2 shows the skin clecoed to the spar after being bent to within 1/4" of the spar with the skin relaxed. I thought that would be "close enough", but just that 1/4", when clecoed to the spar, caused a bulge in the trailing edge very similar to the "WRONG" illustraton in figure 5-7 in the construction manual. After a good bit of effort, I got the skin so that it just touched the spar when relaxed. The trailing edge now matches the "RIGHT" illustration in figure 5-7.
