Brief Description:  Trimmed and Deburred Rear Spar Root Reinforcements

Tonight I started on the W-407G rear spar reinforcement forks and W407D doubler plates. As received they are the same parts as used on an RV-8, but get trimmed on the bottom inboard corner for the RV-7 per drawing 38 (only available in the preview plans at this point). I carefully measured, marked, and trimmed one, then used it as a template to scribe the trim lines onto the other 3. To trim each one, I cut within about 1/32" of the scribe line on the bandsaw, then hit the edges with the belt sander, both individually and a light touchup as a clecoed stack.

I used the vixen and mill files to do the initial deburring of the edges of all 4 parts, then used a combination of scotchbrite wheel, 100-grit sandpaper, and maroon scotchbrite to break the edges and finish them up. I used the sandpaper and maroon scotchbrite wrapped around a sharpie pen to smooth out the inside radius of the forks.

Tomorrow night I catch a red-eye to Tennessee for the annual weekend fishing trip with my brother, nephew, cousin, his son, and friends, so I'll be out of the shop at least until Monday. See ya!
