Brief Description: Part 2 - Fitting F-7114 FWD Fuselage Gussets
Fitted F-7114 forward fuselage gussets. As documented on VAF, these required a little massaging to fit. Both the left and right parts required closing the angle on the longitudinal flanges just a small amount. Shortened the forward ends of the longitudinal flanges to clear an existing rivet, and very slightly enlarged the spar bolt holes for the left one to fit with standard size bolts. For the right one, only the 1/4” holes needed to be very slightly enlarged. They may have to be enlarged slightly more for the final close tolerance bolts. Drilled and reamed the left one for the five AN3 bolts attaching the gusset to the lower longeron and side skin.
Installed 6 of the 7 rivets that attach the forward edge of the F-7101R gear attach web that I missed when I installed the side skin. Incorrectly shown on DWG 28, these rivets need to be -7 length rather than the -6 called out. The bottom rivet also catches the forward bottom skin and needs to be a -8.
