Brief Description:  Center Fuselage - Seat Ribs

The fact that the aileron trim arm came out about 3/8 inch further to the left than it should have has been bugging me, so I reassembled the system to the left inboard seat rib, hooked the servo up to my car battery and ran it fully both ways to check for adequate clearance and no binding. It works just fine, but in the full left position, there's only about 1/32 inch clearance with the rib lightening hole (photo 1). To provide a bit more clearance, I marked the edge of the hole where the arm came the closest, and relieved it about another 1/8 inch (photo 2). I feel better now...

With that little job complete, I riveted and bolted the two most inboard seat ribs to the aft half of the F-704 bulkhead. If you look close at photo 3 you'll notice I put the rivets' factory heads on the bulkhead side of the joint. Normally, shop heads would go on the thicker metal, to reduce the chances of distortion on the thinner metal, but I'm not comfortable enough with the offset universal rivet set in the gun, which would be required in order to get the gun between the ribs. I have NO distortion of the rib flanges from bucking the shop heads.

I finished up the day by dimpling the three seat ribs that got primed in the second round of priming, and then installed the nutplates for attaching the forward seat pans on the six remaining F-716 seat ribs.

Time to head out to a Super Bowl Party. I have no real preference for a team, but I lean toward liking Denver slightly more than Seattle as a city, so I guess I'll root for the Broncos...
