Brief Description:  Left Elevator and Trim Tab

Installed counterweight and riveted left elevator except for top of trim spar. I also have not yet done the blind rivets on the trim opening closeout, and the ones on the bottom of the trim spar because I have not yet received the new POP Riveter I ordered last week. I had planned to use JB weld to bond a small doubler angle inside the trailing edge where it cracked, but forgot to do so before riveting the elevator. At this point, I think I'll just stop drill the crack and inject some JB weld to stabilize it.

I also dimpled and riveted the trim tab parts, including the spar, skin, the two horn parts, and the aft half of the hinge. I used my pop rivet dies to dimple the horn attach holes aft of the spar. Before riveting the hinge to the top flange of the spar and skin, I fabricated a 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/8 block from a scrap aluminum angle to tape to my no-hole yoke to prevent deforming the hinge eyelets while squeezing the rivets. It worked well enough for the few rivets holding the hinge, but would be more durable had it been made of steel.
