Brief Description:  Elevator Work

Riveted both elevator skeletons, with the exception of the trim spar on the left one. All rivets were reachable with the squeezer and yokes I have on hand.

Per another builder's log, I riveted the E-704 counterbalance ribs to the spar before riveting the E-703 end rib to the counterbalance rib. This was to make it easier to reach the counterbalance rib to spar holes with the squeezer. The squeezer with my longeron yoke wouldn't go around the flanges on both the end rib and counterbalance rib with the sets installed and adjusted for the rivets. I had to remove the outer (flat) set, place the yoke around the ribs, then insert the set. The riveting went well though.

Previously, when the elevator horns were drilled to the spar and ribs, the inside of the holes were left bare steel. To prevent rusting, I used a toothpick to apply self etching primer to the inside of the holes and riveted wet.
