Brief Description:  Electric Flaps

I started this session by notching out the F-748 baggage tunnel cover for the F-680 center flap actuator bearing.

I then fabricated the F-766C actuator plate, F-766B actuator angle, F-785B attach angle, F-766D spacer, and F-767 attach plate (photo 1). The flange on the F-767 attach plate is a bit long, but since this gets fit and drilled after everything else is in place, I'll wait until then to see if I need to fabricate a new one.

On the F-785B attach angle, I only drilled the holes that will attach to the F-785A backrest brace, and only drilled them to #40. I'll drill them to #30 in assembly with the brace. When the instructions say to fit and rivet the attach angle to the brace, they don't mention match drilling the screw holes for the center cover. Looking closely at the plans, the bottom aft edge of the brace doesn't quite make it to the floor, so I don't think it's a good idea to go ahead and drill it. I'll try to get everything clamped in place and decide the best way to proceed then.

The bolt hole in the F-766B actuator angle was about 0.010" too far from the end of the angle causing interference with the actuator gearbox housing. A few seconds on the belt sander (poor-man's milling machine) brought the edge and the radius down to the point they no longer interfere with the housing (photo 2).

The radius on the F-766B actuator angle has to clear the gearbox housing on the actuator.
