Brief Description:  Last 4-1/2 Miles of the Move to Michigan - 1

Well, so far our retirment and relocation has gone according to plan, and we only have a few steps left to complete. We received the keys to our new-to-us house ON the Brighton Airport (45G) last week, so it was time pick up the RV-7 project from Gary Konrad, who's been storing it for me since June.

Through good fortune, Gary's place is only 4-1/2 miles from mine, so his friend Ed's open car trailer was up to the task of moving the fuselage. A pile of foam rubber, a couple of old couch cushions, and a couple of ratchet straps secured the fuselage safely to the trailer. Some of the control surfaces went in the bed of the truck, the rest in Gary's Traverse. We hauled the wings in the bed of the truck one per trip, with the same foam rubber, couch cushions and straps used on the fuselage. They rode like they were part of the truck.

Over the span of 3-1/2 hours we made 4 round trips, and got all of the bits and pieces safely into my hangar. Now all I have to do is wait on my tools (and the wingtips...) to arrive from California with all the rest of our "stuff".

Check out the photos here and in the next two log entries.
