Brief Description:  Center Fuselage - Aileron Trim, etc.

Today I completed a trial assembly of the electric aileron trim system.

First, I installed the arm in it's bearing block (photo 1). Then I had to finish preparing the bracket by countersinking the rivet holes for all of the nutplates in the bracket, and dimpling the aft attach holes and the hole for the vertical #10 screw hole through the block. I then installed nutplates on the bracket and, finally, countersunk the vertical hole in the bearing block to clear the #10 dimple in the bracket and installed the block to the bracket (photo 2).

I then installed nutplates for the servo on the web of the left center seat rib. I then assembled the servo, linkage, and bracket to the seat ribs, then clecoed the ribs to 704 bulkhead for a trial fit (photo 3). When locating the servo, I failed to notice that the center the arm should be centered between the seat ribs, and missed to the left by about 3/8 of an inch. I don't think I'll be able to easily relocate the servo, so if I can run the servo end to end without anything binding up, I'll live with it.

I finished up the day by installing most of the nutplates for seat pans on flanges for the two center seat ribs, and the two #10 nutplates on each rib for the adel clamp to support wiring. I did not install the aft most nutplate in each rib to avoid interference with riveting the aft flange to the F-705 bulkhead.
