Brief Description:  Center Fuselage - Bottom Skin

Today I de-vinyled, deburred, and dimpled the outside of the F-776 center fuselage bottom skin. I'm leaving the aft corner areas undone until I roll the side skin cones and drill them to the bottom skin and corner ribs. Also, per the plans, I drilled to full size and dimpled the holes for the skin and baggage ribs at the intersection of the ribs and F-706 bulkhead. I did not drill or dimple the aft two rows of holes for and behind the F-706 bulkhead.

For dimpling, I enlisted the aid of my ever supportive wife to help hold the skin, and to make sure I didn’t miss any holes. I used standard dies in the holes for all ribs and the F-705 bulkhead. I used tank dies for slightly deeper dimples in the holes for the F-704 bulkheads, as the F-772 forward bottom skin overlaps both of these rows. After giving it some thought, I think I'll cleco the forward bottom skin to the center bottom skin, and mask off the area of the center skin aft of the forward skin so I can prep and prime the underlying strip on the forward end of the center skin. I did this where the tail cone skin underlaps the aft bottom skin, and it worked quite well.

By my count there are 469 holes to be deburred and dimpled in the center bottom skin at this point, not counting the corner ribs and the ones in and behind the F-706 bulkhead. What else are you going to do while deburring but count??? :O)
