Brief Description:  Center Fuselage

After I got the aileron trim servo drilled to its rib and deburred the holes, I had visions of getting all the center fuselage parts prepped and primed today. It wasn't to be...

First, after going over all the details on Dwg 22, I found that the center seat ribs weren't quite done. I had to relieve both ends to allow insertion of snap bushings, and had to do the same thing to the forward ends of the center baggage ribs. Then I noticed that I hadn't drilled the holes for attaching adel clamps for wiring. Even though I don't plan to mount the battery in the aft fuselage, I thought they would be handy for regular wiring. I also found that a couple of the straps for the F-623 ribs needed to be deburred.

After completing all of the above, I made a run to the local NAPA store and stocked up on Duplicolor self-etching primer. After getting back and cleaning up the shop in preparation for spraying primer, I only had time to prep the bottom skin before dark. (I use my wife's potting table to prep parts by scrubbing with maroon scotchbrite and Dawn dish soap).

With priming the skin complete, I sat down with Dwg 22 again to re-familiarize myself with the center fuselage assembly and noticed ANOTHER detail I hadn't attended to, the drilling of the 5/8-inch snap bushing holes in the forward end of the seat rib webs. While taking care of that, I noticed I hadn’t deburred some of the seat rib lightening holes, and hadn't drilled and countersunk the rivet holes for several nutplates. While I was at it, I drilled for #6 nutplates to secure the aileron trim servo, rather than fiddle with loose nuts.

I think (for about the fourth time) that I've finally got the seat and baggage ribs ready for prep and priming.
