Brief Description:  Center Fuselage

Tonight I fabricated the aft clips that attach the F-623 corner rib to the F-706 bulkhead. The first try with the aft end per the plans resulted in ZERO edge distance for the aft hole (photo 1). The second time around, I added a 5/8" wide tab. After a very iterative process, I got this design to fit (photo 2). The fitting of the first one took well over an hour of fitting, but the second only took about 15 minutes after tracing the first (photo 3).

The scrap I used is 4 inches wide so the clips are much longer than needed, but I'll trim them after drilling to catch at least two rivets along both lines. With the forward outboard flange of the corner rib lined up with the edge of the bottom skin, the aft edge ends up about 3/32 to 1/8 inch inboard of the bottom skin. This is the main cause of the edge distance issue on the original clip, and may cause some edge distance issues on the outboard row of rivets on the clip, but the plans show only two rivets in this area, and the inboard row of rivets should have more than adequate edge distance.
