Brief Description:  F-705 Bulkhead - 2

(continued from previous entry)

I laid out the wiring pass-through holes in the F-705A cross member per plans (photo 1). I then drilled these to 5/8" and enlarged the rudder cable pass-through holes in the F-705D side channels to 5/8".

I then located the stock for the F-705K seat adjust plates and marked a centerline for bending. I'll take it to the airport tomorrow and borrow a friend’s brake to do the bending.

I then cut the F-704J seat adjust angles to length, and laid out and drilled the attach holes. I laid out the end holes in one angle 1/4" in from the corners then used my fan spacing tool to lay out the lengthwise positions of the intermediate holes (photo 2). The fan tool wouldn't open up wide enough for the specified spacing, so I set it up to use every other leg. Also, the fan tool is too limber to accurately place the holes on a straight line, so I marked the width-wise positions by simply measuring 1/4" down from the edge at each hole position. After drilling one angle, I clamped the second one back-to-back and match drilled it to the first (photo 3). For now I'm leaving all holes #40 until I match drill the angles to the aft flange of the F-705F channel.
