Brief Description:  Aileron Bell Cranks

Tonight I installed the right bellcrank to the spar. When I final torqued the pivot bolt I did get a little drag on the bellcrank. I wasn't in the mood to take it out again, so I moved on to the left wing. Later, after thinking about it a bit, I remember the drag changing depending on the rotational orientation of the bushing. I think I'll try rotating it (tomorrow) and see what happens.

After I final installed the left bellcrank brackets and torqued the pivot bolt, the bellcrank operated very smoothly, and would rotate under its own weight. I installed the rod ends on the left W-818 pushrod and set the plans length of 27-5/8 and temporarily installed it. When I installed the bellcrank jig and checked the trailing edge orientation relative to the main rib tooling holes, it was about a half inch high. After three iterations, I ended up with a pushrod length of 27-15/16 to properly set the aileron neutral position. There are still threads in the witness holes on the bearings indicating the thread engagement is adequate.

For future reference, it takes a full turn on both rod end bearings to move the line between the forward main rib tooling hole and the trailing edge radius by the diameter of the aft tooling hole.
