Brief Description: Right Wing Top Skins
|
|
Two weeks plus since I've been in the shop. The holidays are over; time to get back to work!
I asked local RV-7 builder/flyer Hal Lyons to help me rivet the right wing top skins today. He agreed immediately, so I think he's enjoying my build as much as I am. He must, as the shop started out at 34 degrees, and only got up to 49 in the afternoon. Three-plus months ago we riveted the left top skins in shorts!
Hal and I work very well together, and once we got in sync, we were turning out a 20-rivet rib in 5-10 minutes. The sequence is pretty much:
Me: "Ready" Hal: "Go" Me: Brrrrrrrrrp Hal: "Good", or "One more tap", or "A little lighter on the next one", depending on how the shop head looks.
Only three drill-outs today. Two were proud rivets, my fault for relaxing just a bit on the gun before pulling the trigger. The third was an instance where the tape on the rivet set got under the rivet head. Only one minor smiley, which I won't point out; you'll have to find it on your own...
Rivets Today: 546 Total Rivets: 6303
