Brief Description: Left Fuel Tank Complete! - Part 3
I finished up by cleaning the exterior of the tank, as well as the inside surface of the skin that will eventually attach to the leading edge splice plate. To make absolutely sure the tank will cure in its proper final shape, I temporarily attached it to the spar. I loosely threaded the three bolts through the inboard z-bracket to set the exact spanwise positon, then checked the alignment of the other six brackets by making sure I could start a bolt in every hole. Every bolt started in the dead center of its spar hole, indicating perfect alignment of every bracket. I then clecoed the skin to the spar through the tank screw nutplates, using 1/8" clecos in every third hole.
Now I'll let the tank cure about a week before leak checking. Hopefully I can get the leading edge completed by then...
