Brief Description:  Trim Tab Hinge

Tonight I riveted the forward half of the trim tab hinge to the elevator. I was able to buck all but the three most outboard rivets in the trim tab hinge. For the rest I used the no-hole yoke with a 1/2x12x1/8 square of steel taped to the end to keep from distorting the hinge eyelets. I had used the same shape to back up the yoke for the aft half of the hinge, but it dented too easily to use again. After riveting the hinge, I drilled out the four holes on top and bottom of the trim spar outboard of the trim tab to 7/64 and blind riveted.

Checking the operation of the trim tab, there was a very slight interference between the bottom forward edge and one trim spar rivet on the elevator. I put a few degrees upward bend in the section of skin forward of the trim tab spar, and in now has full, interference-free travel.
