Brief Description: Part 2 - Left Elevator Crack Repair
I was going to repair the crack in the elevator trailing edge (see entry on 3/4/12) with a doubler JB Welded inside the trailing edge, but I forgot to do this before riveting the skin to the skeleton. My thinking is that if I have to de-rivet the skin, I'll just replace it, so I just ground out the crack, cleaned out the primer, scuffed the inside surface with a small piece of maroon scotchbrite on a cotton swab, then injected a small amount of JB Weld. I taped over the trailing edge to hopefully get the JB Weld to form a radius. Before I applied the JB Weld, I went ahead and riveted the closeout tabs.
