Brief Description:  Left Elevator Closure Tab Bending

Made the bending blocks for the closure tabs on the left elevator. I ran the mating surfaces on the belt sander to get them perfectly flat in an effort to ensure straight bends, and radiused the edges so the bend radius wouldn't be too tight.

On the first try, I had located the bend line on the lower tab about 1/8" outboard of where it should be. :O( I "unbent" the tab thinking that if that wasn't successful, I'd just cut off the tabs and fabricate a rib. The unbending went well until when using the mushroom set in the rivet gun to do the final flattening, I let the set run past the backing block and crushed the trailing edge. I radiused the point of the interior bending block and tapped out the crushed area. I thought I'd gotten away with it, but after completing both bends I notice the 3/8" crack in the trailing edge.

That's where I stopped for the day...
