The freakin UL engine places the oil temp sensor in a spot that makes a standard sensor impossible to install without grinding down the hex head. Lame. I've done it 3 times and wont' do it again. This time I went with a 1/8'th NPT sensor custom made for me from UMA Inc. They are an awesome group of people, let me tell ya. It threads into a brass adapter to fit the UL engine and won't need modifying. I also had it made with 5ft of 18awg twisted wire and a RTD sensor inside for extreme accuracy. I've never got my temp reading to be spot on with the OAT and found that my avionics guy had daisy chained 3 different wires. Not all his fault as I changed sensors a couple times, but really should have changed the wiring all the way to the GEA24. This one will allow a straight shot with no breaks. Done deal.
