Brief Description:  Flight testing the cooler diverters

I've called the doctor. He's writing my airplane a prescritpion for some serious meds. It's been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.
Todays flight testing proved something that is inescapeable. The dual 2" ducts refuse to allow the needed airflow into the oil cooler via the shoulder scoops. Remember, I split the inlet area in HALF and guess what. The CHT's laughed at me when they reached a nice peak of MAYBE 289 on climbout. And what a climbout!!! my climb rate is insanely better without the need for 4 million CFM of air going to the oil. I'm a little worried that my DD intakes are grossly too large. who would have guessed? At least it's a good problem to have :)
However, not so cool were the oil temps. even with the diverters directing air into the ducts, the temps skyrocketed up to 260 degrees while in the pattern for 15 minutes. My lesson learned is that the oil cooler truly needs it's own air source which means the next 6 weeks will involve major belly naca scoop surgery. But not your typical naca. It will be a ram air hybrid like Wayne Blackler's feeding a much larger and more efficient 8 row SW. After blowing $550 it BETTER COOL DOWN!
